Our next virtual choir production – all welcome!
Eric Whitacre. Composer, Virtual Choir genius and a very nice chap!
Seal Lullaby is one of our favourites! We’ve been inspired by Eric Whitacre in our recent Maestro Series talk to perform his beautiful piece as our next virtual choir production and we though it would be great to open it up to TTBB singers everywhere.
There’s a limit to how many voices and recordings we’ll be able to manage within a sensible timeframe – so be quick and register if you want to be part of it!

Join us, for a really good sing!
During 2020 we did several Virtual Choir projects – all amateur productions, and all huge fun. It’s not the same as singing in a ‘real’ choir of course, but in many ways it’s equally rewarding. You work at your own pace, learning not just the piece itself but also important things about your own voice that you normally aren’t aware of when singing with others.
It’s challenging and fulfilling, and a great way to develop your voice.
We’ll provide everything you need; backing tracks, Zoom rehearsals, How To guides, etc. The only thing you’ll need to buy is a copy of the score.
We won’t be making a charge, but we’d welcome a donation because we think it’s likely we’ll need to hire professional audio/video engineers if the number of participants is high. We’d suggest a donation of £15. given that this is a 4-6 week project and our normal membership subscription is £12 per month. You can pay more of course, or less – it’s up to you!
We’d love to have you on board!

Who are we?
We’re the Rossendale Male Voice Choir! Formed in 1924 and based in Rossendale, Lancashire, UK. We have a proud record (triple consecutive Eisteddfod winners) and an innovative, fun and community based approach to singing, whilst remaining true to our traditions.
Check out our history page if you want to know more about us.
What’s it all about?
If you’ve ever done a virtual choir video before, you’ll know! Otherwise, check the video’s we’ve done during 2020 to get an idea. We do them for fun and on a minimal (ie zero) budget. Our aim is to keep singing for the sheer joy of it, and to do something that’s interesting, challenging and fulfilling.
It’s all about the love of singing and it would be great to have you as part of our choir community for this next project.
What’s expected of me?
If you can sing a tenor or bass voice part, you’re in! If you’ve never done a virtual choir project before you’ll need a bit of gear (a smartphone and a PC/tablet) and there’ll be a small learning curve to figure out how to use them as part of the project. Don’t worry though, we’ll provide all the how-to guides and be on hand to help.
Plus, most of us are in our 50s to 70s and have managed fine with our previous projects!
How long will it take?
In total it’ll take about 6 or 7 weeks – 2 weeks for sign-ups, 3-4 weeks of Zoom rehearsals, plus a week or so for you to prepare and send in your recordings. We’ll then put them all together and have an exciting Premiere where we can all enjoy the results of our efforts!
There’ll be Video & Audio guide track for each part so you can practice at home and an online community for support.
